le Tigre & Miscellaneous Stuff

In Australia Sunday is just another night to go out and have a bit of fun. I found it strange that even with Monday looming around the corner people were still right and ready to go out for a few hours into the late Sunday night. So, of course I had to indulge in this new twist on the weekend! I went out with Sam and a bunch of the housemates to le Tigre - Sam knows the owners. It's a nice little diner-by-day, club/bar-by-night. Really cool place: it has a patio and really nice dining area and inside there is a dance floor and some more seating along with the bar. We had a good time getting to know everyone better and just hanging out on our Sunday night. Here are some photos from le Tigre:

I had a French Martini that cost me $16 - ouch! That's a typical cocktail price out here... Any way, I snapped a photo because the straw was stuck to the side of the martini glass, held together with the sweat of the glass - we were impressed, haha.

We had a pretty large group with us that night. Here's a shot of everyone to my left:

And a shot of everyone to my right:

Inge and Mundt chilling with some beer:

So le Tigre was pretty cool. They just opened up about a month ago and no one's sure if they're going to take off or not. I thought it was a lot of fun, but we'll see if they can stand the test of time. Any way, here's some random stuff from the last couple days:

Monday through the day I went to QUT's orientation carnival. It was actually quite a bit of fun! I never got to take part in Purdue's Boiler Gold Rush but I imagine this was similar to BGR or maybe not? Haha! Any way, QUT had clowns doing balloons and fun shapes, people were constantly passing out free food: orange ice pops (which are very tasty), popcorn (with loads of butter), and Subway cookies (yes, I said Subway cookies). I stopped by the Bookstore to pick up my books for class. The only one I needed at this point in time was my pack for German 101; cost me $110 (another ouch). Oh, well, I'm excited to use the materials! Any way, there was this ungodly line in the bookstore and I asked what it was for. Turns out they were giving away free QUT t-shirts so I hopped in line. I went for the blue 08 monkey one:

Later on Monday Inge and I met up to go shopping. She needed something party to wear on the river cruise Tuesday night. We shopped and had a blast.

She found a cute white skirt, a purple top and a nice black clutch that she is in love with. I found myself a new summer-y purse (among other things, haha):

Okay, random stuff: I sketched a koala (one that I took at The Australia Zoo) and have a photo of the original and of my sketch to show you. I'm satisfied with my sketch but I have lots of work cut out for me with regards to sketching, haha.

As I was taking the above photos I thought I'd show you what I've begun on the opposite wall of my bedroom:

Okay. On to the next post: The River Cruise!

Wow, I LOVE your sketch!!! You really have a talent for drawing and I hope you will continue to enlighten us all with your work.

Your group looks like a fun bunch. I like your skirt in the pictures from le Tigre. I hope that place stays open so we can go there when I visit. I also really like your picture wall, I'll try to send you more stuff that you can add to the wall. I'm glad you got to do some dancing, I know you must have been itching to get your dance on after not having the Cactus or anything like that for over a month.

Please keep goin with the blog posting cause it makes me feel closer to you. I miss you so much and I hope things continue to go well for you.

love,
adam

Nicely done on the sketch. I'm a terrible artist so i envy that. Looks like you have some cool peeps to hang out with. I guess I will get to meet some of them if I come up. I didn't see any pictures of John Pav on your wall... haha jk. Funny that Adam is in the same shirt in all the pics
