This Week

First of all: HAPPY 22ND BIRTHDAY TO ADAM! I wish I could be there to celebrate right now. Save a date for me in 28 days. = )

There are a couple of other birthdays worthy of mentioning:

*My Mom's was on 6 May (my apologies for not announcing it earlier - it was just before Adam's arrival and I was going crazy with business)
*Today is also the Queen's birthday
*Tomorrow is Jordan's birthday (there's a birthday card on its way to Purdue since I don't have your new address yet, I hope you set up mail forwarding)

So, happy birthday, everyone! = )

Since Adam's departure things here in Brisbane have been on the move. Well, nothing moving aside from school really, but I've never set to business this much. After the school week ended I immediately started studying for my Australia Culture & Society exam on Tuesday. So far I've been through all thirteen lengthy slide sets less two (which I'll go through after this post; my motivation for studying those slides may be seen by the length of this post). It's a lot to cover, but at least it's interesting material. I am really working to get a good mark in the class. Having done so well on my essay should be some help, but I want to perform well on the final, too.

After Tuesday things will really die down for me. I am hoping to meet with a friend who attends QUT but studied at Purdue last year - shooting for The Three Monkeys but I've not heard back from her yet. This week is my week for kitchen clean-up duty. Ugh. I hope the place isn't a wreck come Wednesday... Friday there's a bit going on: International Student Farewell Function, a Jazz concert for Griffith Uni that I might check out. Adam has an Ultimate game, and the house is having a themed party which I'm really looking forward to. The party is called Le Tour de Chambre - each room has a theme and a drink. Naturally I called dibs on the 80s theme and screwdriver. I'm excited! Saturday is the big run for Dawn (I think I have that in my calendar correctly). And not much else is planned between this week and my last two exams on 19 and 20 June. Well, not much aside form heaps of studying. *mumble grumble*

Lately my mom and I have been working to set things for my internship in Orlando. I'm in touch with my HR contact about my flight to and from. Mom and I are trying to get a month stay in a moderate hotel for the duration of the internship. I kind of put it off since there's been so much else going on, so I've my fingers crossed that it will all work out.

I had a really great chat with my mom the other night. It was all the juicy, good stuff, but I can't go into detail on here (sorry!). Any way, it was heart-warming to catch up with her and exchange thoughts and the like. I've been emailing with my dad - things there weren't quite so happy-happy, but the conversation has been deep, honest and good-hearted. I love my parents so much. I'm very blessed to have them for parents.

Enough with the sap stuff. On to something random: I think I may have chipped a bone in the ball of my right foot. I've no idea how I managed to acquire the pain, but it started up the day I got back from Fiji (Tuesday). It's since gone down, and I daresay is almost gone, but I'm really not sure. Hmm...

Any way, I'm looking forward to hanging out with Inga after hopping around so much lately. This week we've both been holing up in our rooms, studying.

In the world of books: I finished King Kong. I wasn't really impressed, but reading it allowed me to re-watch the movie in my mind's eye, so that was kind of cool. Now I'm reading Deer Hunting with Jesus. I find this really odd considering it's a political book and I am not really big into politics, but it was strongly recommended by Iain who borrowed it from Sarah who also recommended it. The book is basically a deep dig into America's class war. Pretty interesting stuff, actually. Some of it's really sad and eye-opening. The author is a great writer; very engaging and humorous. Plus it's been a fast-paced read so far. I'm undecided as to what book I'll read next. Maybe the Mary Higgins Clark mystery or the 2nd Stephanie Plum book? Who knows!

Well, that's all for now. Leave a comment telling me the highlight of your weekend! = )
